Gustav
Based upon the data that I'm seeing, I will predict that New Orleans will flood WORSE with this storm, than it did with Katrina.

Mandatory Evacuations!
GET THE HELL OUT OF NEW ORLEANS, PEOPLE! GUSTAV IS A
CATEGORY 4 STORM AND WILL LIKELY BECOME A CATEGORY 5 STORM!

Mark Steyn Likes Palin
He says, "First, Governor Palin is not merely, as Jay describes her, "all-American", but hyper-American. What other country in the developed world produces
beauty queens who hunt caribou and serve up a terrific moose stew? As an immigrant, I'm not saying I came to the United States purely to meet chicks like that, but it was certainly high on my list of priorities. And for the gun-totin' Miss Wasilla then to go on to become Governor while having five kids makes it an even more uniquely American story. Next to her resume, a guy who's done nothing but serve in the phony-baloney job of "community organizer" and write multiple autobiographies looks like just another creepily self-absorbed lifelong member of the full-time political class that infests every advanced democracy."
"Why Palin is a Fantastic Choice"
Helen Smith:
Why Pallin is a Fantastic Choice.
She goes on to explain, among other things, "For me, Sarah Palin represents many right-leaning libertarian ideas that I personally support: low taxes, gun rights, and smaller government."

Palin
I just heard Karl Rove describe Sarah Palin as a, "gun-toting, hockey-playing woman", and a "great choice".
McCain's VP Pick: Sarah Palin
Comcast Capping Bandwidth
Arstechnica:
Beginning October 1, Comcast Caps Bandwidth at 250 GB. Well, it's no longer 'unlimited', but it will certainly be enough for most folks, for now. Obviously, once our connections get bigger and higher-quality content becomes available for streaming, this cap will be ridiculous.
Report: McCain Picks Palin
CNBC: "Alaska Gov.
Sarah Palin, a self-styled "hockey mom" who has only been governor for a little over a year, is GOP Presidential candidate John McCain's choice for Vice President, CNBC has learned."
"Obama's Assault on Free Speech"
Michelle Malkin: "Where are all the free speech absolutists when you need them? Over the past month, left-wing partisans and Democratic lawyers have waged a brass-knuckled intimidation campaign against GOP donors, TV and radio stations, and even an investigative journalist
because they have all dared to question the radical cult of Barack Obama. A chill wind blows, but where the valiant protectors of political dissent are, nobody knows."

Jeff Master's Weather Blog
Weather Underground:
Wunder Blog of Jeff Masters, a good hurricane resource.
As of 8 PM tonight, here is what he says about Gustav: "Gustav will likely be a major Category 3 or 4 hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. However, Gustav may not be able to maintain that strength all the way to landfall, if it slows down close to landfall, as expected. The GFDL is currently predicting a landfall Monday morning near the Alabama/Mississippi border as a Category 2 hurricane; the HWRF is predicting a Category 3 storm making landfall in central Louisiana, on Tuesday morning. The GFDL continues to be a day or so faster than the other models in bringing Gustav to landfall, resulting in less time for intensification. Since it is the outlier, a landfall Tuesday seems more likely."

Hurricane Gustav
Dear Residents of New Orleans:
Your city is an impossibility, as it below sea level. A hurricane is currently headed for the Gulf of Mexico. I would encourage you to begin making preparations to evacuate. If you do not own a car, now would be a good time to either rent one, borrow one or purchase some walking shoes.
If you're reading this, you're familiar with the Internet. Please visit the
National Hurricane Center's website for updates on Hurricane Gustav. Please remember that your local officials are clueless and incompetent. If they tell you there is nothing to worry about, they could be mistaken. If this storm comes anywhere near your city, your life could be put in danger. If the city of New Orleans opens shelters, please keep in mind that the living conditions there will be miserable. Rather than trying to ride out any storm, please travel to a safe place north of I-20.
That is all for now.
Your Buddy,
Donny
PS: This time, you can blame John McCain or Governor Jindal, should something bad happen. Let's give W a break, he's almost gone.

Seven States that Will Decide the Election.
"Above My Pay Grade"
Michael Graham highlights Obama's 'unartful' response:
In 1948, they had Harry Truman and “The buck stops here!”
In 2008, they’ve got Barack Obama and it’s “above my pay grade.”
This is
definitely not your grandfather’s Democratic Party.
Barack Obama's 'lost' brother found in Kenya
I'm not exactly sure what to make of this story. Barack Obama has a 'long lost brother' living in an African shanty town: "The Italian edition of Vanity Fair said that it had found
George Hussein Onyango Obama living in a hut in a ramshackle town of Huruma on the outskirts of Nairobi."

Michael Moore Offers the Democrats Advice
Michael Moore:
How The Democrats Can Blow It ...In Six Easy Steps. In this article for Rolling Stone magazine, Moore gives his "blueprint for losing the most winnable presidential election in American history".
Moore tried his darnedest to get Kerry elected in 2004, by releasing his anti-Bush film before the election. I predict his influence on this election will also be mostly ineffective. He's an entertainer, not a persuader, in my book. I've actually enjoyed several of his films for what they were: propaganda. He's a master storyteller. I'll give credit where credit is due. However, just as I won't take a history lesson from Oliver Stone, I won't turn to Moore for the
facts, or for a balanced perspective. My favorite of his films would be Bowling for Columbine. The film doesn't really answer any of the questions that it raises, but it did cause me to laugh and even think.

Russia Says Cheney to Blame for Conflict in Georgia
Following the playbook codified by the crazies in the U.S.,
Russia tells its people that Dick Cheney is to blame for the conflict in Georgia. I can't even make this stuff up! (via Alan)
How long after Bush/Cheney leave office will people be able to blame all of the world's problems on them? Surely, they are the two people who have accomplished more than any two humans in the history of the planet, if we listen to their critics.
