24 Last night's episode of 24 rocked. The producers of Lost need to study 24's winning formula. Namely, a good episode every week and no reruns.

Walk the Line Walk the Line - Recommended. Joaquin Phoenix gives a fine performance.
Anti Wal-Mart Film Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price - Propaganda at its best. Interesting, but completely one-sided. The big surprise? Big corporations are greedy! Really? The sequences of U.S. Wal-Mart employees whining about low wages and poor benefits remind me of one thing: the freedom that these workers have to seek employment elsewhere. The film did, however, raise legitimate concerns about illegal overtime, environmental hazards and parking lot safety. The film is recommended, but for what it is: propaganda. Full disclosure: I shop at Wal-Mart several times each week.

Microsoft Office User Interface Have you seen the UI for Office 2007 (MS Office 12 Pre-Release)? I don't like it one bit. Here is what I want from an application upgrade: more stability, more features and better options. I don't want the programmers to MOVE all of the familiar options and controls to DIFFERENT location within the GUI. Here is how Microsoft puts it: "The traditional menus and toolbars have been replaced by a set of Command Tabs." In other words, for all of us who have been using MS Office for almost a decade - we have to learn the GUI all over again. Great. (Related blog here.)

Microsoft Delays Vista Until 2007 BetaNews: "Microsoft revealed Tuesday afternoon what many had expected for months -- consumer availability of Windows Vista has been delayed until 2007. While businesses would be able to get their hands on the finished product in November, consumers would not find the operating system on new machines until January. The delay also throws a wrench into the holiday marketing plans of many PC manufacturers this season."

Will your PC keep pace with Vista? CNet: "Microsoft is building into the new operating system a tool that will rate a PC based on how well it is running and on how much it can take advantage of Vista's capabilities. The "Windows Performance Rating," which can be seen in the latest test version of the operating system, evaluates components such as the processor, the memory, the hard drive and graphics cards to come up with an overall score."
