War of the Worlds War of the Worlds - It's getting excellent reviews. It opens today. (Admittedly, a consensus of strong reviews is not always a good indicator. I felt that Spielberg's 'A.I.' was a real stinker.)

Primer Primer - Great movie! Very unconventional. To say more would ruin it for you. Let me say this: This movie will never give you that 'been there, done that' feeling. It will fascinate you and definitely confuse you, but it won't irritate you. You'll probably need to reflect on the movie for several hours or days to finalize yor opinion of it. I found it particularly helpful to read some of the online commentary that can be found via Google. DON'T read any commentary before you watch the film. It will ruin the subtle points.

Batman Begins Batman Begins - Excellent direction and acting. However, a little dark for my tastes. I enjoyed X-Men and Spider-Man more.

Concerning Apple Switching to Intel... Robert Cringely: "So why would Steve Jobs...pre-announce this chip change that undercuts not only his present product line but most of the machines he'll be introducing in the next 12 to 18 months? Is the guy really going to stand up at some future MacWorld and tout a new Mac as being the world's most advanced obsolete computer? This announcement has to cost Apple billions in lost sales as customers inevitably decide to wait for Intel boxes." Good questions. His answer? "If Intel was able to own the Mac OS and make it available to all the OEMs, it could break the back of Microsoft." Read the whole thing.
