Crippled by Their Culture Thomas Sowell: Crippled by Their Culture. Interesting. Some of it is pure baloney.

The Interpreter The Interpreter - Great acting, great direction. I can barely recommend it, however, because it's a bit long and a bit boring.
Wal-Mart Offers Custom Music CDs "Wal-Mart on Tuesday launched a new service exclusively through its Web site that will allow users to create their own custom CDs from the company's 500,000 song library. Customers will also be able to select their own packaging options to personalize the purchase. The base price is $4.62 and includes the CD, packaging and three free songs. Each additional song will cost 88 cents...a maximum of 20 songs is allowed on one CD, meaning the most a custom CD from the service would cost is $19.58." Way too expensive, but a great idea.

Fat People Live Longer Dangers of Being Overweight Overstated - "The new analysis found that obesity -- being extremely overweight -- is indisputably lethal. But like several recent smaller studies, it found that people who are modestly overweight actually have a lower risk of death than those of normal weight." This effectively ends my diet. (Let me clarify this. I'm still on a diet that will lower my cholesterol. However, I'm no longer as concerned with lowering my weight. I'm not considered obese, simply overweight. I'm within twelve pounds of being 'normal'.) Perhaps it's time to rethink what is considered to be normal, if overweight people have a lower risk of death. I can't wait for the next exciting report to contradict this one. UPDATE: Here is a NY Times article on the subject: Living Longer Is the Best Revenge. Here's a great quote: "It turns out she doesn't like those body-worshiping, multi-abbed marvels who've spent so much time at the bench press machine they look as if they have thighs growing out of either side of their necks. She doesn't like those health-conscious rice cake addicts you see at Manhattan restaurants ordering a skinned olive for lunch and sitting there looking trim and fit in their tapered blouses while their buns of steel leave permanent dents in the upholstery."

Report: Airport Security No Better than Pre-9/11 CNN: "Security at U.S. airports is no better under federal control than it was before the September 11 attacks, a key House member says two government reports will conclude. The Government Accountability Office -- the investigative arm of Congress -- and the Homeland Security Department's inspector general are expected to soon release their findings on the performance of Transportation Security Administration screeners."

Linux Can't Kill Windows "Linux is an operating system...but you can't turn Linux into a platform even if you brand it, box it, and put a pricey sticker on it." Agreed.
