Follow-Up to Terror in the Skies Read this enlightening follow-up to the 'Terror in the Skies' article: The Syrian Wayne Newton. "Nour Mehana's band might have acted like jerks on the plane, but it appears safe to say they were not casing Northwest Airlines for a suicidal assault, and we can quit worrying about this being a "dry run" or an aborted attack. And if Jacobsen was wondering why one man in a dark suit and sunglasses sat in first class while everyone else flew coach, well, it seems pretty clear that this was the Big Mehana himself. Which is definitely not the same as saying Jacobsen was wrong to worry. The proven existence of this band confirms one of the last details of her story, and her story confirms some of our worst fears about airline security. The mindset of passengers, of the crew, and even of the law-enforcement personnel (Jacobsen said a flight attendant reassured her husband by pointing out that air marshals were on the flight), and decision makers higher up the ladder was reactive, not proactive."

Scouting Jetliners for New Attacks "Flight crews and air marshals say Middle Eastern men are staking out airports, probing security measures and conducting test runs aboard airplanes for a terrorist attack. At least two midflight incidents have involved numerous men of Middle Eastern descent behaving in what one pilot called "stereotypical" behavior of an organized attempt to attack a plane."

You Are How You Eat "Ultimately, it's not the carbohydrates - or the next unsuspecting food group that will come under attack - that will make us overweight. It's our relationship with food and our lifestyle. In other words, how we eat is just as important - if not more so - than what we eat."

Glen Campbell Performs for Inmates "Campbell, nearing the end of his 10-day sentence for extreme drunken driving, gave a free 30-minute concert Friday night for about 1,000 inmates at Maricopa County's outdoor jail. The Phoenix-based singer-guitarist performed several of his Top-10 hits on a makeshift stage atop a flatbed truck with some hay bales as a countrified backdrop."
