Windows XP SP2 Tech Preview Yes, it's beta, but the Windows XP SP2 Technical Preview is pretty cool. It adds a pop-up blocker to IE and it adds a 'Security Center'. You can read more about it in Scot Finnie's latest newsletter. You can download the 237 MB BETA Service Pack using this link. NOTE: This is a BETA patch and should only be run on your test machines. In other words, if you install this patch - your PC may not boot. My results have been positive, but caution is in order.

LightScribe "Looking for a way to label your multitude of CDs and DVDs neatly and efficiently? HP has come up with an elegant answer: Use the same laser that already burned the data to make a label on the flip side of the disc. A technology dubbed LightScribe enables drives to burn a silk screen-like, high-contrast label on the upper side of CD or DVD media bearing a special coating. After completing a data burn, users will be prompted to flip the disc over to burn a label onto the other side."
DSL I finally got DSL at home. Giddy-Up!

Lord of the Oscars The Hobbits can now put Oscar trophies on their mantles. The awards that were given last night were earned two years ago, in my opinion. The first film, Fellowship, was by far the best of the series. The Academy voters evidently wanted to see all three films before rewarding Jackson. Congratulations, Peter Jackson.
