Fly On the Wall
Jeff Feld emailed me a link to
his take on The Beatles' new album. Quite interesting.

Let It Be...Naked Released
Here's one take on the
new album, which I'm likely to agree with,
once I've listened to it: "The new mix is definitely cleaner than the original. The vocals are much clearer, and the acoustic guitars and snare drums are more in the forefront. But several songs, such as "Two of Us," seem almost identical to the original, and de-Spectorized versions of most of the others could already be found on the "Anthology" CDs. The original "Let It Be," for all its flaws, is an accurate document of the Beatles in their final days -- fractured, distracted, bickering, but still capable of pulling it together and producing some marvelous music. "Let It Be ... Naked" is an enjoyable curiosity for Beatles fans, but it won't, and shouldn't, be considered the definitive version."

40 Best? I Don't Think So
This list is absurd. I suppose lists like this are created merely to provoke controversy. Any such list that excludes
Lumet,
Spielberg and
Coppola is simply laughable. The lists that I enjoy reading are lists compiled by
film directors, such as
this list. Here's
another interesting list that Google turned up. It rightly adds Ridley Scott and Peter Jackson to the mix.
Dear readers, obviously art cannot be measured, only appreciated. However, placing the directors of the The Matrix trilogy on a Top Twenty list is beyond good taste, in my humble opinion.

Guinness - Still Good For You
"A pint of the black stuff a day may work as well as an aspirin to
prevent heart clots that raise the risk of heart attacks. Drinking lager [also known as Bud, Coors and Miller] does not yield the same benefits, experts from Wisconsin University told a conference in the US."

iTunes
If you haven't tried
iTunes, what are you waiting for? As far as I can tell, it's pretty much what we've all been asking for. A legal way to purchase music affordably and instantly via a versatile format. I feel like I'm living in the early 80's when I used to purchase 45 rpm singles on vinyl.
