McCartney Signs $400 Million iTunes Deal
Gizmodo: "Paul McCartney has signed a $400 million deal, which will see the
Beatles catalog make its way to iTunes, at long last."
We're basically talking about $400 million for 214 songs, all recorded prior to 1970, by a band, half of which is no longer with us. The Beatles have sold more records in the United States than any other artist or band. This deal should send their numbers even higher, making it virtually impossible for another artist to ever eclipse their sales numbers. Not too shabby for 4 kids from Liverpool, who recorded pop music.
This money is pocket change for McCartney (who made over $90 million on his last concert your), but I'm sure this will put a smile on Ringo's face.
My only interest is in 5.1 surround mixes of the remastered albums on DVD. Their Grammy-winning Love album was a preview of this, and I can't wait for more.
