HD Question Will one my smart readers please clear up a few HDTV questions that I have?

If a television is HD-Ready, does this mean I cannot watch over-air broadcasts without another piece of equipment? What about connecting such a TV to an HD DirecTV receiver or an HD cable box? In other words, will an HD-ready TV work for all scenarios except watching broadcast HD?
