"Best of" Lists
I like "Best of" list at the end of the year. What I like even more is determining just how long it takes me to stop reading the list, because I think it's complete BS. For instance, Rolling Stone magazine had a
Top 100 Songs of 2006 list not long ago. I made it to Number 21, which was a Justin Timberlake song. Showstopper! I couldn't go any further. How could I trust the opinion of an author that gave this piece of crap song any praise? Not possible. So, here are two new lists from Pitchfork Media:
Top 100 Tracks and
Top 50 Albums of 2006. How far can you go on this list before you declare BS? OK, let's see, Pitchfork has Justin Timberlake as their #1 pick, so I don't even have to read their Best Track list. Next. What about Albums? This was a little more difficult. I had to go to #25 before I saw Timberlake's name. Proceed no further.
