What if the terrorists go nuclear?

"...it was simply amazing to see what those passengers did. That man was at least 6-foot-2 and so violent," said JoAnn Rockman, a Flossmoor resident who was returning from a California wedding with her husband and 14-year-old son. "For years, humans have been tortured by Stuck Tune Syndrome, in which a seemingly innocuous piece of music lodges in the brain and won't leave. So far, no reliable cure exists, but a University of Cincinnati professor hopes to change that. James Kellaris has embarked on a study to figure out why songs sometimes commandeer people's thoughts..."

Courtney and I had a pleasant weekend. We're enjoying the cooler weather. On Saturday night, we hooked up with Lonnie and Susan for supper in Columbia. Afterwards, we went to 'Pony Espresso' to listen to a couple of guys playing the blues. They did a few Hank Williams covers that were good. On Sunday, we went to a family reunion in Laurel. It was nice to see the Wells family again.

"In a special five-part series, STRATFOR examines the various theaters of operations the United States must create in its war on terrorism and how it will operate in each of them..."

I watched "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" this weekend, for the first time. Great movie.

A rare Saturday post...

Military Options in Afghanistan - Interesting little article with some projections.

America's War Plan, Part 5: Follow-On Theaters of Operation This article is interesting. It reminds readers that it took the U.S. six months to deploy troops for Desert Storm. It also points out how the U.S. has avoided responding to terrorism in multiple Islamic countries. It suggests that Iraq will be a target, but only later.

We rented and watched Spy Kids on DVD last night. We really enjoyed it. Simple, funny, clean and entertaining. Robert Rodriguez wrote and directed it, and he's already working on Part II. Bring it on!

We can safely say that Ebert hated Ben Stiller's new movie, Zoolander.

We're hoping to see Hearts in Atlantis today.

Jeremy Blonde suggested that I compile a list of the "Best Albums of 2001", based on reader's votes. I like the idea. Please send me your votes. I would like to post the results of your votes on my music page.
