Friday, September 28, 2001 "Doctors share their horror and frustration from their experiences at Ground Zero, during the first and following days of the World Trade Center attack..." America's War Plan, Part 4: The Intercontinental Theater Citizen Kane is now available on DVD. This film is considered by many to be the greatest American film ever created. If you've never seen it, it's definitely worth a viewing. Here is Ebert's review. A team at MIT in Boston say they have developed a way to record mouse movements on a page and learn how people behave when they are on the internet. Transcript of a recent interview with Mullah Omar, leader of the Taliban. If you're running Windows XP, go here now! Bill Gates is still the richest man in America. This made me laugh. You'll probably enjoy it too, if you've ever been bothered by a telemarketer at home. Thursday, September 27, 2001 The third part of Stratfor's article on America's war plan is here. I'm finding these articles quite eye-opening. K-Meleon 0.5 has been released. You can download it here. This brought a smile to my face. "Cruising the boulevard may never be the same. Two of America's favorite sports cars are nearing the end of the blacktop." Remember the Iroc-Z? It was my favorite. Wednesday, September 26, 2001 Read these two articles: Conceptual Framework for the War The Afghan Theater of Operations Plus! for Windows XP has been released. Separating Fact and Fiction About Linux Unix Raises the Bar Jordan is back. If he wants to play, let him play. Will he be the old Jordan that we know and love? We'll see. Monday, September 24, 2001 I paid $6 to be bored out of my mind by this. My mother cooked a feast for us yesterday! It was delicious. Thank you. If you're running anything other than Windows 2000 on your computer, you should seriously consider upgrading to Windows XP. It seems to me that the boys in Redmond have finally done their homework. Friday, September 21, 2001 As I watched President Bush's speech last night, I felt like I was watching a serious piece of history. No doubt he felt as if the entire world was watching him. I noticed that the major news sites on the web were performing poorly the day of the WTC/Pentagon attacks. This article details the unimpressive facts. Check out these panoramic views of "ground zero". (You'll need QuickTime.) Are you afraid to fly? Have you heard what this pilot told his passengers? Hey! Look at us! We're a monoloply! Before you go, have a virus! It's free! A conversation with the "most dangerous man in the world". Do you have a leaky toilet? Do you have a large bank account? Mariah is feeling better. Got Nimda? Great Buildings Online: World Trade Center. I've edited my Links page and added a Support page. Here's what "amused me" during lunch today: A meter maid placed a ticket on an SUV that was illegally parked in a handicapped spot. When the lady driving the SUV saw the ticket, she swore at the meter maid, grabbed the ticket and sped off. Please allow me to give this lady a nickel's worth of free advice: (1) people who park illegally get tickets and (2) swearing at cops will get you nowhere. Thursday, September 20, 2001 Here's my pet peeve for today: Remixes of songs that I like. Enough already! Does each and every song on the airwaves need a remix? It really annoys me when I think I'm listening to the original song, only to discover that it's a remix. I'm not sure if this is funny or gross. Wednesday, September 19, 2001 I want to share with you an excerpt from an email that I received from Vanessa this morning. She lives in Queens and works in Manhattan. "...I can hardly believe it only happened a week ago. Everything before the attack feels like another lifetime. And that day, everything that happened, every person I met during the evacuation, every little detail is burned into my memory. The first few days I think I cried every minute of every day. I know it's being felt all over the country, but the reality is more palpable here. I can't explain the terror, what it felt like when we realized the attacks were deliberate and all of a sudden we were all sitting ducks, stuck 30 or 40 or 50 floors in the air waiting for a plane to come and hit us next. I really thought I might not get out of the city alive. We walked home over the 59th Street Bridge. The whole time I was on it I kept thinking a plane could hit us any second. Then we heard planes overhead, and at that point there was no commercial air traffic since all the flights had long been grounded. We were finally able to tear our eyes away from the sight of the giant column of smoke rising into the air where the Twin Towers had been to look up into the air to see what the noise was. It was two fighter planes, actual United States combat planes overhead. The whole experience was surreal. Everyone walked in a kind of stunned silence. It was eerily calm actually. No one was running or trampling or panicked. We were all just trying to get out of there alive and get home to our families, aware that it could have been any of us who went to work that day not knowing they'd never see their families again..." You can read more eyewitness accounts of last week's tradgedy here. Here's a story about an incident that happened just yesterday in Chicago. Read this an tell me how scared you think the pilots on that flight must have been. CloneCD 3.0.9.1 has been released. The Nimda virus is a real problem. So far, I'm very impressed with Windows XP. It installed flawlessy and has been running great for about a week. Can Windows 2000 be replaced with Linux? This guy thinks so. |
