Friday, August 3, 2001 Take a look at Tropical Storm Barry. New software available for download... AOL Instant Messemger 4.7 DivX 4.0 Beta 3 Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 At long last, some new commentary. Thursday, August 2, 2001 Courtney and I rented 'The Family Man', starring Nicolas Cage. Nicolas Cage is a good actor, but here he's confined to a poorly written script, and we easily lost interest in the story. Another case of a good concept for a film, but a poor execution of the idea. I'm now using Trillian. As you can see from the screenshot below, it allows you to be logged into all of your favorite instant messaging clients simultaneously. ![]() 'Thirteen Days' is now at the video stores. It's a historical thrller starring Kevin Costner. Has anyone seen it? It sounds sort of interesting. Monday, July 30, 2001 Wow. I highly recommend married life. Courtney and I had a wonderful time in Austin, TX. Highlights of the trip include a day spent at Schlitterbahn, a world-class waterpark, an afternoon swim in the Barton Springs Pool, drinks at The Oasis, overlooking Lake Travis, and some great live music on 6th Street. My dad took a few snapshots at the wedding with his digital camera. From the looks of these photos, I need to lose about 10 pounds. The wedding information page has been removed. I saw Jurassic Park III twice last week. I really enjoyed it. It was a little better than The Lost World, but not as entertaining or thought-provoking as the first film. (Perhaps there were not enough characters for the dinos to eat!) While I enjoyed Planet of the Apes, I was a little disappointed. The dialogue and the resolution to the central conflict were weak. Wednesday, July 18, 2001 Wedding preparations have taken their toll on my updates. Expect no further updates until after the wedding and honeymoon. Tuesday, July 17, 2001 Reports of my death have been highly exaggerated... Four days until marriage. Got stress? Wednesday, July 11, 2001 I have done a terrible job with keeping in touch with all of my friends in the past few months. You know who you are, and I apologize. If you did not receive a wedding invitation in the mail, consider this your official invitation. My pet peeve for today is drivers that don't turn on their headlights when it's raining or when visibility is poor. A semi passed me today in the pouring rain doing 60 mph with his headlights turned off. I personally wouldn't mind if all large trucks were required to have a flashing light of some sort that is always on. Here's a weird news story for you. Tuesday, July 10, 2001 GetRight 4.5 is now available. My new landlord painted the bathroom and cleaned the carpet, as I requested. I was pleasantly surprised. They did a pretty good job. I added a "Wedding Information" page to the site last night. There are driving directions and maps. If anyone needs further directions, please email me. The weather in MS today is dreadful. It's going up to 93 degrees, but it will feel like 105 degrees. Please come for a visit. I need a vacuum cleaner. Monday, July 9, 2001 Mondays should be optional. They repeatedly bring anticlimactic endings to great weekends. The family reunion was not bad. The family has really grown. There were lots of new young faces that I had never seen before. Afterwards, Courtney and I got a chance to spend some time with Vic and Julie, and their beautiful baby girl, Emily. We also enjoyed the visit of my Uncle Carroll and Aunt Marion, Michael and Elizabeth. On Sunday, Courtney and I were given a wedding shower in Prentiss. Over 75 people were in attendance. Many thanks to all for the wonderful gifts. Friday, July 6, 2001 Why did yesterday feel like Monday? Having the day off really screwed up my internal clock. At least today feels like Friday. Courtney and I will be attending the yearly Claude Broome Family Reunion on Saturday. This will be Courtney's first opportunity to meet most of my aunts, unlces, and cousins on my dad's side of the family. Actually, I haven't seen most of them since I left for NY, over seven years ago. It should be interesting. Check for new commentary later in the day. |
