More guest commentary by Jeremy Blonde...

"I'll admit it, I like Microsoft.

Okay, let me clarify, I admire Microsoft's business plan. Sit back and examine it for a minute. They've spent over 10 years creating a piece of software that is no stranger to bugs, crashes and bumps in the night, but has filled the needs of most individuals and companies. As they slowly developed (or bought, depending on who's side you are on) new technologies and expanded their company, their name and software has become universal. I've often heard that there are McDonald's everywhere, but I think Microsoft is just about everywhere, too. For example, the border patrol in Russia uses a Microsoft operating system to enter your passport & visa information (although it takes them forever to type). While some people are justified in their complaints against Microsoft and it sometimes bullying stance, wouldn't you want people as dependent on your product as Microsoft has made people with its?

Dell has stopped offering Linux as an optional operating system on their home computers. Is this is a blow to Linux? Some may view it that way, but remember, Linux has existed before Dell offered it and will continue to exist without Dell offering it. Companies like Mandrake , have set the standard for providing a "user-friendly" front-end to this extremely powerful operating system. And don't forget that IBM has put forth money and effort getting their entire line of servers "Linux-compatible". I think we'll keep hearing about Linux for a while, whether you like it or not. I predict that we'll eventually , see Linux as the "standard" and Microsoft will be "extra". All new systems will then ship with the Linux operating. How many people use IPX/SPX nowadays? Relatively few compared to years ago, reason being that TCP/IP, an "industry standard", became the default networking protocol. In order for Linux to *really* exceed, it will need to become an industry standard.

Just remember.....I've been saying that all along..."

Beer recommendation for the weekend:

Newcastle Brown Ale. The best way to describe this beer is "yummy". Try one for yourself.

Mariah Carey flipped out this week. British sources say she tried to commit suicide. The American press is reporting that she is suffering from exhaustion. Either way, her new music sucks.

Mariah Carey

Ebert hated 'Rush Hour 2'.

Hey boys and girls, here's a little commentary from Jeremy Blonde...
"There are some things that you just shouldn't say to people. My 10th grade science teacher got mad at the entire class because we were all laughing so much. She should have known better. She was explaining to the class that "Uranus" is "gaseous"..."

Here's a little udpate on Al Gore. He's grown a beard. As AA so eloquently put it, "he looks like Colonel Sanders at age 50"! Take a look for yourself.

Young Colonel Sanders?

Why be bored?

See you Monday!

Shiner Bock

Beer recommendation for this weekend:
Shiner Bock. It's made in Shiner, Texas, and has become one of my favorites. I first tried it in the Houston Airport. What is "bock" you ask? It's defined as "strong dark beer brewed in the fall and aged through the winter for spring consumption." You can get it on tap at Lager's in Ridgeland, MS.

Check out these album reviews.

Have a great weekend!
