The Washington Post has published a summary. We were not the only ones with tornado problems. Sunday's weather was beautiful. This was a welcomed change after Saturday's storms. Tornado sirens went off at least three different times on Saturday, and by Saturday night, we were both stressed out. We made several trips to the hostpital, where my dad was recovering from extensive knee surgery. He is making good progress in his recovery and is now at home. Saturday, October 13, 2001 1:00 PM Update - Today started with drama. Tornado sirens! I woke Courtney up, we got semi-dressed and turned on the TV to discover tornado warnings. Apparently, a twister was spotted about 8 miles away. Things cleared up for a while, then more sirens. This time, the storm seemed closer so we prepared for the worse. We got in the bathtub and covered ourselves with a futon mattress. We stayed there for about ten minutes, then things cleared up a bit. There is still a tornado watch in effect.
